Porto striker Danny Namaso Loader has spoken to the Portuguese media about his arrival from Reading back in 2020.

The 22-year-old was interviewed by Betano and has his quotes highlighted by newspaper A Bola, who points out it wasn’t ‘particularly difficult’ for him to choose for the Dragons.

“I had some options in mind, but when FC Porto appeared… It’s one of those names that when it appears, we think: OK, it’s one of the best European teams,” said Namaso.

In the same interview, Namaso also points out he grew up having several references at Porto, such as James Rodriguez, Deco, Hulk and Falcao Garcia.

Danny Namaso joined Reading’s academy on a move from Wycombe Wanderers back in 2012, and spent eight years with the Royals.

His promotion to the first team took place in January 2019, and he had a total of 35 appearances for the English club, with two goals and one assist.

In the summer of 2020, he ended up going from Reading to Porto B on a free move. He slowly convinced the Portuguese side he deserved a chance at the first team, and was officially promoted last summer.

This season with the Dragons, he has five goals and four assists in 29 games, and managed to become an important option on their bench.
