On Wednesday evening, excellent Danish website Tipsbladet reported that Liverpool have held a meeting regarding taking Brentford’s Thomas Frank for their managerial vacancy.
It had already been claimed in England that the Reds had spoken to Wolves manager Gary O’Neil, and now it seems Frank can be added to the list.
Arne Slot looks the likeliest to take over from Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, but it’s clear the Liverpool process has considered multiple options and likely had to change direction more than once.
The claims around Wolves and Gary O’Neil were perhaps surprising and similar can be said with Thomas Frank and Brentford. Both are considered to be great coaches but don’t really have the experience of fighting for titles.
Tipsbladet say Liverpool have been considering the Brentford manager for a while and that resulted in a meeting between Frank’s representatives and officials from the Reds.
The same source then goes on the say that Chelsea had also considered Frank last summer, and it’s then said he’s been ‘on the radar’ at Manchester United and Everton.
At this point, it’s worth noting Thomas Frank has spoken to the Danish media on repeat occasions about being tempted by a bigger job. It would be no surprise if the information behind these latest claims comes from someone connected to, and with interest in the future of, the Brentford manager.
