Since Pedro Porro left Sporting for Tottenham Hotspur in January, the Lions have been struggling to have such a consistent player for the right-back position.

The loan spell that Hector Bellerin had in the first semester of the year wasn’t great, and Ricardo Esgaio, who currently holds the position, isn’t convincing either.

That’s why Sporting have been pursuing Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda, and speaking to Portuguese outlet B24, even Porro supports that signing.

The Tottenham player claimed he’d like to see the Spaniard now taking his place in the team, and made some praises towards his potential.

“It’s the ideal club for him. Any player should play for Sporting, it’s a very beloved club and, above all, a family. A young man like Iván would fit in very well. He has a great future and it would be great to see him in the green and white jersey,” Pedro Porro told B24.

“I don’t know him personally, but I saw him play for the national team and in several games for Valladolid and I liked him, he would be a great signing.”

Sporting have been strongly engaged in the race for Fresneda, as there’s been the competition from La Liga and Premier League clubs for him, and they actually seem well positioned to get his signing done.

Pedro Porro left the Lions for Tottenham in January, first on a €5m loan, and then having his permanent move confirmed for €40m this summer. So far, he had 18 appearances for Spurs, with three goals scored and three assists made.
