Back in January, there was talk that Tottenham were interested in Jesper Karlsson, who knows Dejan Kulusevski very well.

They’re both Swedish, but they also share the same agency these days, as the AZ Alkmaar star recently made the move to join his compatriot’s representatives.

This could have led to extra rumours about a move to Tottenham, but it didn’t, perhaps because both the Eredivisie and the player himself were very clear that no move would take place in January.

This is what the winger told Fotbollskanalen in an interview on Tuesday, where he discussed his relationship with Kulusevski.

Asked about the agency change, he said: “I had been with Nordic Sky since I was 15 or 16 years old. For a long time, I knew I wanted to try something else. I got a good feeling with [World Soccer Agency] and then it had to be that way.”

They then queried as to whether this was with a view to a transfer in January, to which he replied: “Not last winter, no. It wasn’t. It was more of a long term plan. Then, there is a high level of them. I have spoken to Dejan, who introduced me to them. I owe him a lot there. It feels good.”

Karlsson refused to say exactly what the Tottenham star had told him about World Soccer Agency to convince him to switch to them, but he did state that ‘he spoke highly of them’.

The reported Spurs target boasts eight goals and eight assists in 25 games this season after missing the first chunk of the campaign with a muscle injury.
