Last month, reports from the Italian media claimed Leeds United were ‘in the lead’ for the signing of Club Brugge winger Tajon Buchanan.

Even though Serie A clubs are also said to be interested in him, it was said the Whites were front-runners for the 24-year-old.

Today, it’s Calciomercato who features a story on this chase, always focusing on Inter Milan’s chase for the player.

And it turns out that the Nerazzurri may be surpassing Leeds in that race, because according to the story, the Serie A side now ‘take decisive steps’ to get in front of the line, as last week they met intermediary Gabriele Giuffrida in a hotel in Milan.

Now what may sound interesting for the Whites is that Buchanan’s price seems to have dropped a lot.

February’s story said Brugge were demanding €30m for the sale, and would make a deal for around €25m, but this piece from Calciomercato claims the player actually has a price tag worth €10m.

That undoubtedly makes the race for his signing more democratic, and since Buchanan is believed to be ‘exactly what Inter need’, Leeds will need to be ready to outbid the Italian giants.

First, though, they will need to avoid the drop back down to the Championship.
