Tottenham are ‘keeping a close eye’ on AZ Alkmaar star Jesper Karlsson but could face competition from Brighton and Fulham for his signature.

That’s according to Jeunes Footeux, who say the Swede remains a ‘coveted player’ after his impressive tally of 21 goals and 16 assists in all competitions last season.

Those numbers saw him rise to prominence but he has not been able to repeat that this year after an injury that kept him out of action for two months.

The 24-year-old has not managed to have the same impact since then, but he is beginning to ‘regain his sensations’ and Tottenham are one of those ‘keeping a close eye’ on the player.

They’re not the only Premier League side who get a mention, though, with Brighton and Fulham also said to be doing likewise.

There have even been claims that Manchester United are ready to make a bid and PSV are also very interested.

Should they wish to move, they will find Alkmaar demanding at least €20m for their man, with it made clear he ‘will not be sold’ for less than that figure.

That would allow the Dutch side to make a nice capital gain after paying just €2.6m for him two years ago but whether any of the interested parties would be willing to pay it remains to be seen.

Tottenham have already backed Antonio Conte extensively in the summer, but he is believed to be looking for a wide player and perhaps Dejan Kulusevski’s compatriot is the answer.

Brighton, meanwhile, have the funds from Leandro Trossard’s sale at their disposal while Fulham will be keen to back Marco Silva following their superb campaign thus far.

Karlsson is a name to keep an eye on then, with Alkmaar open to sale if the right price is offered for him this month and Spurs ‘very attentive’ to him.
