It’s not every day that a player admits that Chelsea were interested in him, but that’s exactly what Raul Moro told Calciomercato.

The forward, currently at Ternana on loan from Lazio, has been the subject of a lot of interest since a very young age, and that hasn’t stopped.

He arrived at the Serie A side in 2019 after they paid Barcelona around €6m for his services, where he stayed until this year, when it was felt that regular game time would be beneficial.

He hasn’t exactly been getting that, with 162 minutes spread over six appearances to date, in which he has scored a goal, but it’s certainly better than sitting on the bench at Lazio.

Prior to all this, though, his performances at Barcelona caught the eye of many scouts, including Chelsea’s, which the player admits to in the interview.

Asked directly about interest from the Blues by Calciomercato, he said: “After the last season in Spain, I had many requests. I know that several clubs came to see me, including Chelsea and Inter, but when they found out the price, they withdrew. Lazio spent €6m to take me to Italy. I didn’t even know my value at that point.”

That transfer has yet to fully pay off, with just 13 appearances for Lazio’s first-team to this day, but it’s probably more than what he would have got at Chelsea.

While the Blues are known for stockpiling talent, they are a bit more reluctant to include them in their first-team, as shown by a long-list of footballers who arrived early in their career at the Blues only to find joy elsewhere down the line.
