Earlier on Friday morning, we covered an article in L’Equipe about Rachid Ghezzal and his future, with Everton’s €13m accepted bid mentioned once again.

The player decided to stay at Lyon for this season, rejected Ronald Koeman, wanting to preferably renew with the French side, yet the 24-year-old is yet to do that, with both parties unable to agree on terms.

Atlético Madrid are now said to have an interest in the player, something Ghezzal has admitted on Friday knowing about, through the article in L’Equipe.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Lyon’s clash against Metz on Saturday, the Everton target addressed rumours about his future, relayed by Maxifoot.

He said: “There’s still nothing sorted about my future. I expressed my wish to stay. We’re also talking with other clubs, but there is no agreement. Atlético’s interest? I read that in L’Equipe. That’s great, that shows that my work is pleasing to great clubs. It’s encouraging.”

Whether the Toffees are included in those ‘other clubs’ remains to be seen, but other Premier League clubs, such as West Ham and even Arsenal, have been linked with a move for the forward in the past.

Ghezzal has made 15 appearances for Lyon so far this season, scoring a goal and picking up three assists along the way.
