Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite would like to stay at PSV Eindhoven for the remainder of the season, despite a lack of playing time.

That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, who, alongside Voetbal International, report that the Dutch side are in negotiations about the loan deal.

Earlier today, we covered information from journalist Rik Elfrink that stated PSV were talking to Everton about Branthwaite’s loan deal at the club, hoping to keep him until the end of the season.

Branthwaite arrived from Everton in the summer, leaving Goodison Park temporarily in search of regular first-team minutes.

He has not found that in the Netherlands, though, and reports have made it clear that Everton can bring him back in January thanks to a clause relating to minutes in the loan deal.

Eindhovens Dagblad follow that up, stating that the two clubs are discussing the player’s situation as PSV would like to keep him.

Everton have the option to bring him back, but Branthwaite also has a say and that will be ‘decisive’ in the situation.

He is reportedly open to a longer stay with the Eredivisie side as he is ‘enjoying himself’ at the club despite the lack of regular playing time. He has also ‘convinced the technical staff’ and the fans of his ability.

This is backed up by Elfrink, who tweeted that Branthwaite has ‘indicated’ he would like to stay, and this is seen as ‘important support’ for PSV’s discussions with Everton.

VI offer nothing in terms of the player’s stance but do confirm the talks between the two clubs over the loan deal.

They say that they are currently looking at his current minutes differently, which presumably means PSV consider it fine and Everton do not.

If it were up to the Dutch club then he would play the rest of the season with them, but Everton ‘have the right to recall’ because he hasn’t been getting enough minutes. This is stipulated in the rental agreement. They are now in talks about that deal ahead of the January transfer window.
