Erik ten Hag is showing ‘no sign’ that he wants to sign Marcel Sabitzer on a permanent basis for Manchester United, despite the midfielder being keen on the switch.

That’s according to Austrian journalist Peter Linden, who says a move elsewhere is looking more likely at this moment in time.

Sabitzer joined Manchester United on loan from Bayern Munich in the January transfer window as a replacement for the injured Christian Eriksen and has been a regular in the team since then.

The loan deal does not include a purchase option, but it has been made clear from several reports in Germany that Sabitzer is loving life in England and would like to stay at Old Trafford.

Linden picks up on that, stating that Sabitzer has made himself ‘hot stock’ thanks to his performances for Manchester United since his arrival.

He has ‘proven himself’ at the club and would like to stay beyond the end of his loan deal, something his agent, Roger Wittmann, who heads up the ROGON agency, has ‘assured’ is the case.

However, so far ‘there has been no sign’ from Erik ten Hag that he would like to keep the midfielder and sign him on a permanent basis.

He only brought in Sabitzer when it was clear Eriksen was injured and the belief is that once the Dane is back full fit, the interest in Sabitzer ‘could be over’.

That leaves him in limbo as returning to Munich is ‘not a serious thought’ and the German giants would like to sell him for €20m anyway.

If Manchester United aren’t interested ‘it would come as no surprise’ if another Premier League club came calling and offered Sabitzer the chance to stay in England beyond the summer.
