Chelsea want Marcello Gallardo to be their manager, according to reports from Argentina.

Outlet TyC Sports today took to Twitter to claim that the Blues ‘have offered’ the coach a position at the club.

It’s said that Chelsea entered negotiations in Gallardo to have him as their boss starting from the next season.

TyC Sports calls that a ‘world bomb’ news, and added an article to go with it a bit later to state that he’s been contacted ‘directly’.

During that call, he told them he wasn’t interested in taking a job midway through a campaign, but that he would ‘sit down to talk to start in June’.

Chelsea announced earlier today that Frank Lampard will be taking charge of the club as a caretaker, set to leave at the end of the season, and the Blues will obviously not stop their search for a full time manager, who will have the job in 2023/24.

Marcello Gallardo had a very succesfull time at River Plate, who he managed between 2014 and 2022.

Since his departure from the club in December, he hasn’t taken a job yet, despite the several links with European sides.

Among the titles he’s won with the Millonario, there are two Copa Libertadores and one Copa Sudamericana.

Now we shall wait for more news from Argentina on how these contacts have been going.
