As Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol today features a very good piece on the future of AS Roma director Tiago Pinto, they claim Liverpool were one of the clubs who became interested in him recently.

According to the website, the Reds had been considering the 35-year-old for as their sports director ‘until last week’.

It’s claimed that despite Julian Ward announcing his departure a long time ago, Liverpool have only been concluding his replacement in the ‘past few days’.

Tiago Pinto reportedly spoke to the Reds’ owner and the club were even ‘interested in scheduling an interview’ with him, the story says.

Liverpool, however, choosing Jörg Schmadtke. It’s claimed that even though their pick hasn’t been officially announced yet, that’s the man they’re going for.

Tiago Pinto currently has an undefined situation at Roma, and his stay should depend on their results at the end of the season, as that will have big impact on their summer budget. He’s said to be wanted by the likes of West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur.
