Beşiktaş are in negotiations with Everton over a deal for Demarai Gray, with talks having been ‘going on for some time’.

That’s according to journalist Gökmen Özcan, who says the Turkish side ‘want’ the Jamaican international and are pushing to get him.

Gray has been linked with a move away from Everton this summer after struggling to hold down a starting place under Sean Dyche following his arrival at Goodison Park in January.

With Dwight McNeill shining on the left and Arnaut Danjuma also arriving on loan from Villarreal this summer, there is increased competition on the left wing.

Gray has also spoken publicly about his desire to play in Europe, specifically the Champions League; comments which were seen as him indicating he would be open to moving on from Everton this summer.

Beşiktaş cannot offer him Champions League football but did qualify for the Europa Conference League qualifiers last season, so have that at their disposal at least.

Relations between the two clubs are strong given the previous deals for Cenk Tosun and after Dele Alli spent last season with the Turkish club on loan as well.

Whether that makes a deal for Gray easier to get done remains to be seen, but Beşiktaş are seemingly keen and have been working on it for a while.
