According to claim in the Cagliari press, Carpi will today hope to complete the signing of Federico Melchiorri, but first they need to sell Jerry Mbakogu to Leeds United.

Yesterday we covered reports from Italy that Carpi want to redeem Melchiorri after his loan spell with them last season, and it’s been made clear they need the Mbakogu deal sorting out.

Cagliari News 24 have reported on the latest developments regarding the futures of Melchiorri and Mbakogu. The Italian media outlet report Carpi have hurried negotiations with Leeds United in the hope they can get the funds in before their clause to make Melchiorri’s move permanent expires today.

Carpi are looking to purchase Melchiorri from Caligari for €1.3m, and would fund that by selling Mbakogu to Leeds United for €3.5m.

It’s claimed Melchiorri is keen to remain with Carpi, and it seems everything is now dependent on Leeds United.

With Marcelo Bielsa taking over at Leeds United it puts any agreement to sign Mbakogu into question, and Leeds will surely have to give Carpi the bad, or good, news soon.
