Despite Ruben Loftus-Cheek seemingly expressing a desire to stay at Chelsea if possible going forward, the possibility of a reunion with Maurizio Sarri is still being talked about in Italy.

The main reason for that is because he mentioned the Italian manager along the way, and that got the likes of Corriere dello Sport all excited.

Seen by some as the ideal replacement for the almost guaranteed to leave Sergej Milinković-Savić, the Chelsea midfielder is an option for Lazio if they end up with a lot of money from the Serbian’s sale.

Corriere explain that Lazio have ‘tested the waters recently’, and have ‘informed themselves of the operation’s feasibility’.

Despite his words and the fact he’s contracted to Chelsea until 2024, Loftus-Cheek ‘can leave in the summer’, with the current situation at Stamford Bridge seen as the ideal moment to strike and potentially get someone that might have stayed otherwise.

We’ll have to see, because while words in public are one thing, it’s made clear ‘the feeling between Loftus-Cheek and Sarri could be of help in a potential negotiation’.
