Last week, Barcelona president Joan Laporta admitted his side are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal for Clément Lenglet.

On Tuesday, Mundo Deportivo stated the defender has ‘practically closed’ an agreement with Spurs. It was also stated Tottenham don’t want to offer over €10m while the Catalan club hope to collect €15m for the defender.

Tha La Liga side could try another formula to allow the 28-year-old to return to Spurs in this window, according to La Vanguardia.

It’s said Barca have identified Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso as a target and are ready to offer Lenglet as part of the deal to sign the Argentine.

Xavi Hernández wants to bolster his side’s midfield in the current window and after giving up on Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, Lo Celso has emerged as a candidate.

The newspaper states Spurs aren’t counting on him and this has convinced the Barcelona sporting leaders to ‘easily reach an agreement’ with Tottenham for his transfer. Barca are also ‘studying’ the possibility of offering Lenglet in part-exchange for Lo Celso.

Meanwhile, AS journalist Javi Miguel took to Twitter to claim Xavi has ‘requested’ Laporta to sign Lo Celso, Girona’s Oriol Romeu and Manchester City’s João Cancelo. The manager believes the trio’s addition can help Barca to achieve ‘something historic’ next season.
