On August 4th, reports coming out of Italy explained Lille are hoping to ‘quickly close’ a deal to sign Alfredo Morelos after ‘reaching an agreement’ with the Rangers star.

Speculation around the striker was expected to intensify after the Gers signed Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten from Anderlecht and FC St Gallen respectively.

Foot Mercato on Tuesday reported the Ligue 1 side’s first bid of €15m plus €2m in bonuses for the Colombia international was turned down by Steven Gerrard’s side.

Lille are in the market to bolster their attacking division after losing Victor Osimhen (to Napoli) and Loïc Rémy. They have already signed Burak Yilmaz on a free transfer.

According to Le10 Sport, the French side are now looking to sign Gent star Jonathan David, and also Morelos.

It’s claimed Lille are close to completing the signing of the Canadian for €30m. That will not be the end of their business as the report adds Christophe Galtier’s side are ‘rushing’ to sign the Rangers player.

Le10 state Lille leaders are involved in ‘intense negotiations’ with their Scottish counterparts for Morelos.

Lille’s wish is to have Yilmaz, David and Morelos as their attacking options for the 2020/21 season.
