Roma are sweating over the fitness of Leeds United loanee Diego Llorente, who they fear could be set for a ‘long injury’ layoff.

That’s according to Sky Sports Italy, relayed by Planeta Roma, who say the defender is undergoing tests after being forced off in the first half of the loss to Genoa.

They explain that Llorente had to go off injured with a strain in the flexor of his right thigh, an injury that would usually require a two-week layoff.

However, more tests have been planned for tomorrow for the Leeds loanee to discover the ‘true extent of the injury’ and how much longer than that he may be out of action.

‘A long injury is feared’ by those in charge at Roma, who would be losing ‘one of the most important players’ in Jose Mourinho’s squad.

The Spaniard has established himself as a key player since his arrival from Leeds in the summer and any extended absence would lead to a ‘crisis’ at the Italian club.

They’re already facing a ‘real emergency’ in their defensive line after losing Chris Smalling and Marash Kumbulla to injuries and any absence for Llorente would only add to their problems in the position.

That’s bad news for a defence which is already the third worst in the Serie A and have conceded in all of their games bar one.
