Erling Haaland’s contract at Manchester City does include a release clause and has ‘favourable conditions’ for Real Madrid.

That’s according to journalist Fernando Sanz, who has hit back at Pep Guardiola’s dismissal of the rumours regarding a clause.

Sanz reported earlier this week that Haaland contract at Manchester City included a release clause and there were ‘very favourable’ conditions for Real Madrid to sign him in future.

The Spanish giants were heavily linked with the Norwegian before the summer transfer window but appeared to have abandoned their effort to sign him as they focused on Kylian Mbappe.

He ended up staying at PSG and Manchester City swooped in for Haaland, taking advantage of the clause in his contract at Borussia Dortmund to sign him for a price that now looks like a bargain.

That’s not stopped suggestions he could move to the Bernabeu in future, particularly with his father insisting he plans to leave the Etihad in two years time.

Pep Guardiola has rallied hard against the suggestion he has a release clause in his deal at Manchester this week, dismissing the rumours that initially started with Sanz’s claims. The journalist is having none of that, though.

“It’s up to Guardiola to say what he has said. The clause exists and the amount I can’t say yet,” Mundo Deportivo report him saying on El Chiringuito.

“I remember that when he was at Dortmund people said there was no clause and Manchester City benefited from that and were able to sign him. I remember the signing of Luis Figo, who said it was all a lie in a newspaper and the next day he was at Madrid.

“Guardiola said that because of the pandemic crisis they could not make any money and months later they signed Haaland.

‘Everyone says what is convenient. I’m not saying that they have exclusive priority. I say that, in this case, there is a clause with favourable conditions to go to Madrid.”
