When Manchester City signed Erling Haaland, it was clear that they had signed one of the best up and coming players in the world, and he’s shown that with his first few performances under Pep Guardiola.

The Norwegian international already has 14 goals in eight Premier League games, scoring three hat-tricks at the Etihad to date, including one in the 6-3 dismantling of local rivals Manchester United.

Signing a contract until 2027, Haaland appeared to be committing long-term to Manchester City, but it didn’t take long for the Spanish media to claim that a clause existed in the deal that could favour an early exit.

It was suggested that both Barcelona and Real Madrid could benefit from this, but it’s actually just the latter, according to the latest information from El Chiringuito.

The news comes from their journalist Fernando Sanz, who, in a very dramatic video, slowly drip feeds information over four minutes, which we watched and will summarise for you.

Basically, he said that Haaland has a clause in his Manchester City contract that gives him a chance to leave in his second year, meaning after the 2023-24 season, ‘with very favourable conditions for one club’.

We’ve already told you the name of that club above, but it took Sanz a good minute to reveal it, before clarifying that every other club would have to negotiate with the Premier League leaders if they wanted to sign Haaland, except the La Liga giants.

As for the amount, he didn’t have the exact figure at hand, but their belief is that ‘it’s less than €200m’, which we’re sure everyone is delighted with.

This would also backup early claims from Germany that a 2024 release clause of €150m exists in his Manchester City contract.
