Hull City will face a fight if they wish to make either of Portuguese duo Carlos Carvalhal or Pedro Martins their next manager.

That’s according to A Bola, who cover the situation today and explain why it is unlikely either manager will end up with the Tigers.

The newspaper explains that both have been linked with the Hull City job over this week after manager Shota Arveladze was sacked four days ago.

The Portuguese pair are out of work at present with Martins leaving Olympiacos in August and Carvalhal parting ways with Al Wahda.

However, according to A Bola the approached ‘will not have pleased’ either manager as they aspire to bigger jobs at this point in their careers.

Martins is dreaming of a Premier League club while Carvalhal would be open to something more ambitious than a side sitting 20th in the Championship at this moment in time.

That is why there is a third Portuguese name ‘in the orbit’ and that is Bruno Baltazar. He is ‘well regarded’ by Hull City officials due to his work at Rochester New York FC in the United States.

A key factor towards his appointment is the fact he has a work permit after working as an assistant to Sabri Lamouchi at Nottingham Forest meaning he could move to fill the vacant position quickly if required.
