On April 23rd, Rádio Itatiaia stated West Ham United have made advances over a deal for Wesley Gassova after their director, Tim Steidten, was in Brazil to watch the Corinthians player.
A day later, multiple claims from the Brazilian media stated that Corinthians rejected the Hammers’ €15m bid for the forward.
This is echoed by ESPN in Brazil, who explain that West Ham have returned for the 19-year-old.
Wesley graduated from the South American club’s youth system and was promoted to their first team in 2022. He’s been a regular for them since last year and has scored six goals and three assists in 58 games so far.
The youngster has convinced West Ham, who have made an improved bid to try to secure his services.
It’s explained that David Moyes’ side have increased their proposal to €18m and this deal is being brokered by former defender Naldo, currently part of an agency, N29 Football.
Corinthians haven’t yet agreed to West Ham’s new offer, but ESPN explain intermediaries involved in the operation are trying to convince them to change their mind.
There will be more developments in this case in the next few hours or days.
