Tottenham ‘first in line’ to sign this season’s ‘revelation’ – Spurs are ‘favourites’ due to one factor

Earlier this month, TuttoMercatoWeb stated Tottenham Hotspur are ready to shop in Serie A for Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori, after having looked at Italy to bolster their squad in the past few windows.

On April 15th, we covered claims from Italy that Spurs are competing with Juventus for the centre-back and this has caused a little panic at the Turin club.

The Italy U21 international joined Bologna from FC Basel and has been a ‘revelation’ in his debut season under Thiago Motta’s orders. He’s established himself as one of the most promising defenders in the league.

This hasn’t gone unnoticed and he’s caught the north London club’s attention. In fact, the report claims Ange Postecoglou’s side are ‘first in line’ and would challenge Juventus to sign the defender.

It’s further claimed Tottenham are the ‘favourites’ as they have ‘greater liquidity’ than the Turin club. Calafiori’s deal lasts until 2027 and Tutto Juve makes no mention of Bologna’s demand or the fee Spurs are willing to offer for him.

Calafiori has four assists from 30 games for Bologna this season.
