Spanish outlet Cadena Ser today brings some updates on Chelsea’s effort to sign Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal.

It’s now claimed that the player’s departure from the La Liga side is ‘imminent’, with the Blues willing to pay something close to his €35m release clause.

The outlet, however, claims the clubs are still to find an agreement regarding the payment method. Villarreal want the payment in full, while Chelsea would rather pay it in instalments.

It’s said that the Spanish club then asked for time to think, and they may ask for something more, such as a percentage of a future sale.

Cadena Ser claims that in the next few hours, Jackson’s entourage will be flying to London to sort the final details with Chelsea.

That makes it clear that the operation is in the very final stages, and the clubs shall now just work on a solution to get that done.

Featuring for Villarreal last season, Jackson had 13 goals and five assists in 38 appearances. His contract with Villarreal was extended last summer, and currently runs until 2026.
