Chelsea are planning on sealing a move for Sevilla defender Jules Koundé soon after finalising the deal for Romelu Lukaku.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says the Blues are pushing ahead with their plans to improve this summer.

Chelsea are believed to be close to sealing a deal for Lukaku, having turned their attention to him after failing to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

They have now agreed a €115m deal with Inter Milan for the Belgian, an agreement which should see an acceleration in his return to Stamford Bridge.

It seems that mega offer won’t be slowing down Roman Abramovich and co, though, with Koundé next on their list.

Tavolieri reports that all the parties involved in the deal with the Frenchman are ‘confident’ the move for Lukaku will be done in the next few days, and when it is, the push for Koundé ‘should follow fairly quickly too’.

There’s no mention of a fee or negotiations with Sevilla, just confidence that a deal for the French centre-back can be done quickly once Lukaku is over the line.

Indeed, this is the most confident anyone has sounded about Chelsea getting him for some time, with the European Champions seemingly ramping up their transfer efforts and opening the chequebook to do so.
