Borussia Monchengladbach are eyeing an opportunistic approach for youngster Ibrahim Osman, despite Brighton having already signed him ahead of the summer.

That’s according to Rheinische Post, who say the German side could make a loan proposal for the 19-year-old.

The newspaper explains that Gladbach are working to strengthen their squad ahead of next season and the focus is very much on youngsters they can develop.

They’ve often used loan deals to their advantage, something that was seen last year when they signed the likes of Max Wöber on loan from Leeds, and it could be a strategy they employ again in the summer.

One player they have on their list is Osman, who is set to move from FC Nordsjaelland to Brighton at the end of the season after the Seagulls moved to wrap up his signature quickly.

It remains to be seen what they plan to do with him, the assumption is that he will be a part of their squad next season given they spent €20m, but that’s not certain.

And Rheinische Post say it might be worth Gladbach throwing in a loan offer and seeing how Brighton respond as it could work out in their favour and prove to be a deal that’s more than worth it.

It’s a case of if you don’t try, you’ll never know and by chancing it they may get a deal that they wouldn’t have previously thought of.

It would certainly be opportunistic, but the worst Brighton can do is say no and they’ll move on to other potential targets instead.
