Brighton & Hove Albion have joined a few Spanish clubs in the chase for Sevilla’s Juanlu Sánchez, according to today’s ABC Sevilla.

The 19-year-old came up through the ranks of the La Liga side’s academy and made his senior debut in 2021.

Sánchez was on loan at CD Mirandés last season, where he managed two goals and five assists from 38 games, operating mainly as a right-back and at times as a right wing-back. His displays have pleased Brighton.

The report says Roberto De Zerbi’s side and unnamed La Liga clubs have asked about the Spain U19 international.

It’s further claimed the Seagulls have ‘positioned themselves’ to let the fullback know that he ‘could be a more than useful asset’ at The Amex next season.

Sánchez’s deal expires in 2026 and ABC Sevilla say his clause is no longer €15m. In fact, they say it has been increased to €25m.

The player’s dream is to continue at Sevilla and he’s now waiting for José Luis Mendilibar’s approval.

It hasn’t been received so far as neither the manager nor the Spanish club have officially informed Sánchez that he’ll be included in their plans for the new season.

This should give Brighton a hope of bringing the youngster to England.
