Apart from the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace towards the back end of October, it’s fair to say that Everton’s form hasn’t been great.

The Toffees have conceded a number of goals, and struggled in front of it, as shown at the weekend as they lost 2-0 to Leicester City.

Whether a fit Yerry Mina would make a difference, no one really knows, as the player has only made one appearance for Everton this season, playing 70 minutes in the 1-0 loss against Chelsea on opening day.

Either way, the Colombian defender has yet to return from his ankle injury, but he is back in training, which has led to Marca Colombia wondering whether it’s worth risking him in the upcoming games.

Everton are set to face AFC Bournemouth away in the third round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday, before repeating the exact same fixture in the Premier League four days later.

They wonder if it could be better to ‘be more prudent’ with Mina and wait until after the World Cup to play him, as he would then be in ‘top form’.

With Everton struggling, there’s no point rushing anyone back only for them to get injured again, and it’s pointed out they are ‘aware that a mistake in the return of Yerry Mina could be fatal’.

Few doubt the quality he has, but his injury record speaks for itself, and it has never led him to gain the continuity he needs to fully show what he is capable of.

Down his end, Mina is ‘looking forward to playing again’, as he wants to ‘reappear as soon as possible to play the second part of the season in perfect conditions’, knowing it could be ‘decisive for his career’ with his contract expiring in the summer.
