According to a claim in the Swedish media, Napoli have stepped up their pursuit of IFK Goteborg goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg.

IFK could be forced to sell the 18 year old in the next window for financial reasons, and Watford are also in the race to sign the youngster.

Expressen report Napoli have entered into talks to sign Dahlberg as their search for a goalkeeper continues. The Serie A side were keen to bring in a keeper this summer to provide back up to Pepe Reina, and a host of players were linked with the club. Dahlberg seems to be the next stopper on Napoli’s radar, and their interest is concrete, say Expressen.

Despite his age Dahlberg is already the first choice goalkeeper at IFK, and his performances have also brought him to the attention of Watford.

We covered reports from Sweden earlier this month that Watford have actually tabled a bid for Dahlberg, and that the Premier League side were in final negotiations to get a deal done.

Since then reports of a move to Vicarage Road have gone quiet, but Watford are still likely to be in the mix to sign the Swedish U21 international in the new year.
