Earlier this week, we covered a story from Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that Inter weren’t quite ready to give up on signing Shkodran Mustafi, and there was brief talk of them potentially making a move for the German in January.

There were some difficulties, notably convincing Arsenal to let one of their now starting defenders go midway through the season, and an update on the situation has been published on Thursday.

The same newspaper have another article looking at some of the transfer Inter might be doing in the near future, and the Arsenal defender’s comes up once again, although the likeliest outcome now is an attempt next summer.

Gazzetta state the Serie A side could very well make his dossier active next summer, even if his relationship with Arsène Wenger appears to have grown stronger recently.

Of course, were the Frenchman to make this his final season in charge at the Emirates, Mustafi’s situation could change in an instant.

Perhaps that’s what Inter are waiting for.
