Player wants to “join Everton quickly”, it’s his goal according to former teammate

Another day, and more hints that Henry Onyekuru would jump on the next flight to Liverpool if he felt he could join Everton earlier than scheduled.

Of course, Onyekuru is already owned by Everton, after the club signed him from Eupen during the last summer market, but he’s spending this season loan at Anderlecht before hopefully arriving at Goodison Park for the next campaign.

There’s two good reasons for that, one to further Onyekuru’s development rather than give him the huge Eupen to Premier League jump, and secondly because it’ll be a struggle to secure a work permit.

Having already spoken of his desire to move to Everton in January, Onyekuru has been forced to backtrack more than once, because he’s aware of the need not to sound too ungrateful to Anderlecht, and annoy the Belgian champions too much.

However, the youngster’s former Eupen strike partner Mamadou Sylla, who has since moved to Gent, has no such worries.

Speaking to Belgium’s DH, Sylla explained: “Henry has many qualities, which he has already shown in his first campaign in the first division. At Anderlecht, his playing time and his ability to adapt to the Mauves’ games do not surprise me. A club and a level where he will still be able to progress, with the goal he has in mind to join Everton quickly to discover the Premier League.”
