Leeds United’s Marcus Antonsson has confirmed clubs have been showing an interest in signing him this summer. The 26-year-old joined Leeds United 12 months ago, but struggled to get games for the Championship side during his debut season.

In an interview with Hallandsposten, Antonsson was quizzed about recent claims he could be returning to Sweden in the next window.

The Leeds United forward said there’s been strong interest from other clubs, but it’s likely he’ll turn down the chance to return to his home country. Despite his struggles at Leeds United, Antonsson revealed he’s been in this position before and intends to remain at the club.

“There has been much interest. I’m not the type who gives up and starts to whine and flees. I was in a similar seat at HBK but I came out of it and it got me here,” said the Leeds United player.

Last month it was reported in the Swedish media AIK could look to sign Antonsson when the transfer window opens. The player has failed to hold down a regular place in the Leeds United starting eleven since his arrival, and a move back to Sweden could help kickstart his career, but doesn’t seem to be in the player’s plans.
