It’s now time for the Italian press to report Manchester City’s interest in Athletico Paranaense fullback Abner.
Following claims from England saying Pep Guardiola’s side had sent emissaries to watch the 21-year-old, it’s now TuttoMercatoWeb who comments on this interest.
Athletico Paranaense, meanwhile, are said to be working to protect the player, as even though his contract only expires in 2024, their plan is to renew the deal and increase the release clause, which currently stands at €25m.
TuttoMercatoWeb refers to Abner as ‘one of the most interesting young Brazilians’ out there, and his potential isn’t something new for the Italian media, as he’d previously been linked to Inter Milan as well.
The left-back was part of the squad that won the Tokyo Olympics with Brazil last year, and now has a big season ahead of him with Athletico Paranaense.
