In case you weren’t aware, Tottenham have been linked with Dusan Vlahovic for quite some time.
The striker has been in fine form for Fiorentina since the beginning of last season, and with Harry Kane wanting to leave for Manchester City in the summer, it made sense for Fabio Paratici to plan for a future without the England international.
In the end, no purchase was needed as the striker stayed put, but that doesn’t mean that will still be the case next year, regardless of the arrival of Antonio Conte.
The interest in Vlahovic hasn’t gone away, and while the feeling is that a summer move will definitely take place since he has refused to renew his Fiorentina contract, there was talk of a January exit.
While there could be an ‘automatic no’ for an exit in January from the player, who will likely want to finish the season at Fiorentina, a ‘different speech could be an agreement in January and then a change of jersey in July’.
This ‘could be the one preferred by Tottenham’, since they currently have Harry Kane, but ‘after hiring Vlahovic’ by allowing them to ‘anticipate everyone’, they could then ‘sell him more calmly to City’.
Something for Paratici to think about, as it would allow Vlahovic to finish his season with continuity in Florence, all the while allowing Spurs to cover their backs in case a transfer involving the Englishman does take place down the line.
