While Wolverhampton continue to fight at the bottom of the Premier League, Jhon Arias remains a name watched closely in Brazil.

The latest update comes from UOL, who report that Palmeiras still hope to sign the Colombian in the next window. His future at Molineux remains uncertain, even if a January exit looks unlikely.

Palmeiras’ interest is not new. The club have monitored Arias since July. UOL recall comments from Fluminense president Mário Bittencourt at the time. He said: “Leila called me, she is a very good friend. She asked if we would sell John Arias to Palmeiras. I told her: we have no interest in selling, and he has no interest in playing for any club in Brazil.”

Fluminense still hold priority in Brazil thanks to the first-refusal clause we have already detailed. Even so, UOL report that Palmeiras made a fresh enquiry to the player’s representatives. They wanted to understand the current conditions for a transfer.

Arias, however, is unlikely to leave Wolverhampton in the next window. He only arrived four months ago and has been expected to complete the season.

The report adds one key factor for future movement. Wolves’ poor league position, and the real threat of relegation, could open the door. The club may decide to sell before any drop in market value.

For now, Arias stays in England. But his situation continues to fuel interest back home, with Palmeiras pushing again while Fluminense wait with contractual leverage.
