Tottenham have been handed a more worrying update on Pedro Porro, with the defender now said to want a return to Spain.
Barcelona’s interest in Porro was already being pushed this week. The latest information goes further and brings Real Madrid into the picture too.
Both Spanish giants have reportedly sounded out the Tottenham player. More importantly for Spurs, Porro is said to be interested in leaving England.
That doesn’t mean getting him out of Tottenham will be easy of course.
Porro ‘wants to return to Spain’
Cadena SER discussed Porro’s situation on Wednesday, with journalist Nil Solà providing the key update.
“He renewed and, although it’s true there are no release clauses in England, getting him out of Tottenham will be difficult,” he said.
“However, he wants to return to Spain, so Barça and Real Madrid have already sounded him out.”
That changes the picture somewhat for Tottenham. Earlier reports from Spain had presented Barcelona as an attractive destination for Porro. Now this is a much more direct claim about the player’s own intentions.
Spurs at least have plenty of protection. Porro signed a new contract running until 2031, with Tottenham holding an option for another year. Cadena SER also say the deal made him one of the highest-paid players in the squad.
Any interested club therefore has a significant negotiation ahead of them.
January move to Barcelona already being discussed

Barcelona may not wait until next summer to test Tottenham’s position.
During the same discussion relayed by Cadena SER, journalist Manolo Romero raised the possibility of Porro joining the Catalan club in the winter window.
He asked whether Barcelona could sign the defender “in December”, saying that possibility had already been acknowledged to him.
There would still need to be movement at the Camp Nou first. Barcelona would reportedly have to sell Jules Koundé, who has lost his starting place at right-back. Only then would a winter move for Porro become more realistic.
Real Madrid provide another potential route back to Spain, having also sounded out the Tottenham man.
For Spurs, the important part is increasingly Porro’s position. His long contract means they have control over the situation and little reason to make life easy for either Spanish giant.
But if Cadena SER are right that Porro himself wants to return home, Tottenham may now have something more than outside interest to deal with.
