Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City have Beşiktaş’ Oh Hyeon-gyu on their agenda and are lining up to sign him in January.
Both Tottenham and Hull City have taken initial steps to bring the striker to the Premier League.
The South Korea international started his career at Suwon Samsung Bluewings and left his country when Celtic signed him in January 2023. He struggled for regular game time, scoring 12 goals from 1,317 minutes from 47 minutes.
Oh left the Scottish club for KRC Genk in July 2024 and played regularly in Belgium. He managed 22 goals and six assists from 73 matches. It helped him secure a move to Beşiktaş in February.
The frontman impressed for the Black Eagles and finished the second half of last season with eight goals and four assists from 16 matches.
Hull City join Tottenham
His performances didn’t go unnoticed in England as Spurs and Manchester United showed interest in the summer window.
In April, Sport Witness covered a report from Turkey that the two clubs ‘in particular’ were looking at the player, but neither made further advances.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side seem to haven’t forgotten about the player as Friday’s edition of Takvim covers the latest. Tottenham Hotspur aren’t alone as Hull City are now also in the picture to sign the former Celtic man.
The officials of these two clubs have sat down with Beşiktaş’ board to discuss Oh’s move for January.
Manager blocking Tottenham and Hull City
Beşiktaş manager Vincenzo Italiano became aware of the meetings with the north London club and the Tigers. He has taken action by making a ‘surprise move’.
The Italian is urging the Turkish club’s board to not sell Oh Hyeon-gyu during the winter market.
In fact, he’s opposing the idea of parting ways with the South Korean.
Oh has one goal and two assists from 13 matches this season. Summer signing Dušan Vlahović has starred, scoring five goals from seven matches.
Despite this, the manager wants the former to continue amid Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City’s approaches.
It’ll be interesting to see whether the British press will back up or dismiss Takvim’s report.
