West Ham were in the picture to sign Mohamed Ali Zoma in the summer and the player has now opened up about his future.

The attacker, now at 2. Bundesliga side Nurnberg, has impressed during his time in Germany. He has six goals in just as many games for them, finding the net 14 times in the previous campaign.

The reward interest from several clubs abroad. Sport Witness tracked how West Ham had stepped forward to sign Ali Zoma but their offer was rejected. This left the player frustrated, as he was keen on a move to the London side.

The 22-year-old was called up to the Italian national team some weeks ago. He made his debut during the international break, which comes as a big boost for his career.

As expected, talk around him has only grown.

Player open to exit

Ali Zoma spoke to Sky Italia about multiple things regarding his career right now.

When asked about the move to Nurnberg from AlbinoLeffe, he made it clear that Miroslav Klose proved key.

He said – via Calciomercato: “I came to Nuremberg last year, they welcomed me warmly and helped me a lot, even with the language. We started well and now we have a match on Saturday, but we’re all thinking match by match.”

“Before coming here, I spoke with Miro Klose. He influenced my decision; I knew he spoke Italian. He helped me a lot, and I’ve improved thanks to him.”

The player was also directly asked about his future after West Ham’s summer approaches.

“Me in the Premier League or Serie A? I’m not closing my doors to anyone. I’m ready and focused, let’s see what the future holds.”

Ali Zoma also appeared delighted about his call-up to the national team.

“[Italy manager] Mancini told me he was watching me and that I had to keep pushing on the pitch. I did, and when he called me, I was very happy, especially for the experience.”

Promotion will help Hammers

Ali Zoma’s stature is growing and it won’t be a surprise if Serie A clubs come calling soon.

This could leave West Ham in a difficult position, especially if they’re not promoted to the Premier League. Even financially, they could face problems in affording the versatile attacker, who will play more games for Italy in the next few months.

Soon though, the player will have a decision to make and he will have a host of options.
