Claudio Giráldez says he’ll be delighted if Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fer López returns to Celta Vigo.
The La Liga side face Ludogorets in the Europa League later today. Their manager was asked about the Wolves player in his pre-match press conference and El Desmarque have relayed his comments.
Celta Vigo sold the attacking midfielder to Wolves for around €25m in June. This helped them balance their books.
He played 235 minutes from seven matches for the Premier League side. On Wednesday, we covered claims from Spain that a Wolves exit could be on the cards. Therefore, the Spanish club could try to sign him on loan in the winter market.
Later that day, Faro de Vigo indicated López’s agent Jorge Mendes is key for Celta Vigo to sign him.
Celta Vigo sporting director Marco Garcés said he’s like to bring the 21-year-old back to the club but insisted it won’t be easy. Giráldez has now joined him in expressing his wish to bring the player back.
“We talk to Fer a lot, with many of our former players. I have a special personal relationship with him because I coached him for many years and I didn’t want him to leave. Obviously, I’d like him to come back, that’s a fact,” he said.

The manager said he isn’t aware of the latest links, which is hard to believe. If it were to him, he would like to see López back at Celta Vigo.
“The conversations have been natural and normal; we have a good relationship, and that’s all,” Giráldez explained.
“At the moment, we have all our licences filled, and there is not much truth or reality to that rumour. If I have to say whether I would like to, then yes.”
El Desmarque report López has asked Mendes to find a new club if his sporting situation at Wolves doesn’t improve in the coming weeks.
