Celta Vigo director of football Marco Garcés has admitted he’d love to add Wolves midfielder Fer López back to his squad. He, though, insists it won’t be easy.
Marca cover comments from him today. López has been linked with a return to his former club in multiple Spanish reports on Wednesday, some from reliable newspapers local to Celta.
He left Celta for Wolves in the summer transfer window. He had been a star man at the Spanish club, and they were sad to lose him at the time. That disappointment has only grown as they’ve watched him fail to establish himself at Molineux.
López has barely featured for Wolves so far this season, despite their struggles. Even former manager Vitor Pereira’s consistent squad changes failed to give him his chance.
The situation doesn’t look likely to improve under Rob Edwards. A report today stated he is not a fan and that could lead López back to his old club. A second report then stated that Jorge Mendes could help push the deal along.
Now Garcés has been asked about the potential return. He insists that any deal would be complicated to get done, but he remains a fan of the midfielder, nonetheless.
“It’s very complicated,” he said.
“We’d love to have him back at some point, but right now it seems very difficult. They made a big investment that they’ll want to recoup.
“We don’t have any open discussions. He’ll always be an interesting player, but at the moment it seems very difficult. He’d be a fantastic addition to our squad.”
