Tottenham Hotspur are one of the sides watching Sporting Club de Portugal winger Geny Catamo ahead of the January transfer window.
Record report on the list of suitors for the 25-year-old after the Portuguese side battled off interest in the summer.
The newspaper reports that alongside Sunderland maintaining their interest – Sport Witness covered reports on that today – another club from the ‘Big 5’ in Europe are closely monitoring his performances.
Como interest
They are Serie A challengers Como – Cesc Fabregas’ Como to give them their full name. They had the winger on their list during the summer and have made preliminary enquiries about him.
But they’re not the only suitors. The Lions’ number 10 has also attracted interest from Tottenham and clubs in Saudi Arabia as well.
There is no mention of whether these teams have made enquiries or anything of that nature. Record simply say that they are interested.
Do Tottenham need another winger?
Tottenham targeting another winger would certainly be eyebrow raising given the makeup of their current squad.
They already have Savio, Mathys Tel, Wilson Odobert, Mohammed Kudus in the squad while Mykhaylo Mudryk is on loan from Chelsea. Then there’s Xavi Simons – who is currently out injured – and the likes of Omar Marmoush as well.
Adding another winger to that list, and an already massive squad, would be surprising. There is, though, no denying that Catamo is a name that is on the rise.
His tally of 23 goals and 18 assists in 143 games for the Portuguese side is strong enough evidence of that. But then there was his stunning goal in the Champions League this week that sparked a comeback against Galatasaray.
That was another big moment in a growing list of them for the forward, and clubs in Europe are starting to take notice. Tottenham, at least as far as Record are concerned, are one of them.
