Fer López hasn’t had a great time since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Celta Vigo in June.
The attacking midfielder was involved in 11 goals [eight goals and three assists] for Celta Vigo last season. This convinced Wolves to invest around €25m to secure his services and his sale didn’t please the Spanish club’s supporters.
Earlier today, we covered claims from Spain that the La Liga side have an option to bring the Wolves player back in the winter market.
Monday’s edition of Faro de Vigo backs that up and shares more on his current situation at Wolves.
The 21-year-old is represented by Jorge Mendes, who has close ties with the English club. Vítor Pereira was in charge when the player arrived, and the newspaper state he endorsed López’s signing.
Wolves appointed Rob Edwards as Pereira’s successor earlier this month. López has played 235 minutes for Wolves, and his playing time is thought to be further impacted by Edwards’ arrival.
Celta Vigo are considering taking him back on loan in January. They believe he can get more game time under manager Claudio Giráldez. They will have to make room in their wage bill and squad, and it can be achieved by letting one of the players leave.
Mendes can be key to help the Spanish club bring their former player back in the next window.
Both local newspapers covering Wolves transfer plan
La Voz de Galicia, another newspaper local to Celta Vigo, reports they are evaluating the option of signing López on loan.
The newspaper states: ‘[Celta Vigo’s] hope of return hinges on the English club seeking to increase his value through a loan to a team where the adaptation process would, in theory, be straightforward.’
Both newspapers local to Celta Vigo are covering the plan.
The pitch to Wolves is that Fer López’s value could rise via the loan. That presents the youngster as something of a commodity signing.
