The Eredivisie side are in talks with the English club to sign the 18-year-old on loan.
Feyenoord told not to sign Manchester United man
Algemeen Dagblad journalist Mikos Gouka primarily focuses his coverage on Feyenoord.
He’s been discussing the possibility of Chido Obi joining and FR12.nl have relayed his comments.
“What does Feyenoord need all those strikers for? That is why we haven’t written about it,” he said.
“Then you have too many players, certainly in the age category that Van Persie is in. Signing another talent, that would be nonsense. You only do this in the event of an injury or knowing that a player is leaving.”
Feyenoord have striker position covered
Feyenoord manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst currently has Ayase Ueda, Shaqueel van Persie, Casper Tengstedt and summer signing Nacho Ferri for the No.9 position.
There’s been uncertainty around Ueda’s future. However, Mikos Gouka says he has shown no signs of wanting to leave.
“Feyenoord has Ueda, the top scorer in the Netherlands, and with Ferri they bought someone who cost around €10m. That is their assumption: if Ueda leaves, he hasn’t shown it yet, he should then be the first-choice striker. Van Persie needs to grow during the season, and Tengstedt still needs to be sold,” Gouka explained.
Therefore, the journalist warns Feyenoord against making an attempt for Chido Obi.
