Sunderland and Fulham have been interested in Parma’s Mariano Troilo and have now been given hope of a future move.
The centre-back joined the Italian club in the summer of 2025. In the 2025/26 campaign, he played 21 times in the Serie A and became a regular in the second half of the season.
This led to claims about a move to England. It was suggested that while Fulham were interested, Sunderland had made initial contact for the Argentine.
Troilo stayed at Parma at that point but talk around his future refuses to go away.
Exit could come next summer
ParmaToday note that Troilo has increasingly become a key player for Parma. He has won over manager Carlos Cuesta, who trusts players like Troilo to make an impact.
Tthe manager was key in keeping the centre-back this summer. Sunderland and Fulham offered €20m to sign him but a decision was made to consider his exit in the summer of 2027.
This choice left many at the club pleased, as they’re quite happy with how the player has grown.
His valuation is likely to be around €30m, considering his growth in the last season or so. Parma believe he is key to building the club’s modern-day identity and that is why keeping him this year is seen as a sensible choice.
Player will get a big move
Parma have become experts at making major sales. This was seen in the summer. They made big capital gains from the exits of Zion Suzuki, Mateo Pellegrino and Alessandro Circati. This makes Troilo the next in line to leave soon.
The 23-year-old has become a leader at the club and this should be a big positive for both Sunderland and Fulham. He is yet to be fully adept on the ball but is very reliable from a defensive standpoint.
His physical traits make him a good fit for English football, which could make the deal quite exciting.
