On Tuesday, we covered an article stating Edin Dzeko, or more likely someone from his entourage, had knocked on the door of Manchester City regarding a potential transfer.
Gazzetta dello Sport seemed to suggest that hadn’t been a fruitful manoeuvre, but we hinted it might not be the craziest move from the Premier League club as it would provide Pep Guardiola with a plan B at the Etihad.
It also helps that Dzeko knows the club well from his five and a half years under contract there, and Il Tempo on Wednesday play along with that train of thought.
While the Bosnian turned down an offer from West Ham, ‘the only team who seem to be moving towards something concrete are Manchester City’.
It’s stated they would ‘take him back to fix a rebuilding attack’ to then ‘perhaps offer the Bosnian a future as an executive’.
There’s also Paris Saint-Germain who could offer the striker an avenue, but that doesn’t seem to have taken off just yet.
It’s certainly one to keep an eye on, because with Dzeko out of favour in Rome following his falling out with Paulo Fonseca, things could move rapidly if the right door opens.
