Bayern Munich star Harry Kane was open to a surprise move to Viking FK while at Tottenham Hotspur.

The striker came through the ranks of the Premier League’s youth system, after joining their academy in 2004.

He made his Tottenham first team debut in 2011 but wasn’t able to showcase his qualities immediately. Therefore, the north London club sent him on loan to Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City between 2011 and 2013.

The 33-year-old established him as the main striker for Spurs since 2013 and became a fan favourite in London.

He scored 280 goals and contributed 63 assists from 435 matches for the English club and left them for Bayern Munich in 2023.

Viking’s interest while at Tottenham

The England international will face Viking with Bayern Munich later today. The Norwegian club’s former scout, Gary Goodchild, has talked about their failure to sign Harry Kane while at Spurs.

Goodchild has been speaking to Stavanger Aftenblad about the frontman and Campo have relayed his comments.

“I was told that he (Harry Kane) might be interested in a move to Viking,” he said.

The former scout, who had a spell with Viking during his playing career, visited England to watch the player live. This was when Tottenham Hotspur sent him on loan.

Why Viking didn’t sign former Tottenham star

Harry Kane starred during his loan spell at Millwall, scoring nine goals and contributing five assists from 29 matches. The following season, he had loan spells at Norwich City and Leicester City.

Viking were then keen on signing the ex-Spurs man. He was open to a move and Gary Goodchild wanted to take a closer look at him. The trip to England wasn’t useful as the striker didn’t feature because of an injury.

Kane suffered a metatarsal fracture in 2012 and was out of action for 54 days. This is the reason Viking didn’t proceed with the loan move.

It allowed the Bayern Munich star to return to Spurs, where he had the big breakthrough. It may have not been possible had Viking decided to bet on him.

The striker will arrive at Viking’s home stadium today, this time as a Bayern Munich player for the Champions League clash. Kane will now have no complaints to have missed out on a move to the Norwegian club.
