Glasgow Rangers are showing an interest in Girona winger Min-su Kim and have entered the picture for the 20-year-old ‘with a lot of strength’.
Journalist Nil Solà reports that Rangers are looking likely to sign the winger from the Spanish side. There is, however, competition from Trabzonspor and other teams.
Solà explains that Min-su Kim is currently protected by a €10m release clause. Because of this, Girona don’t want to negotiate a transfer or the clause. That’s despite the fact his current contract expires in a year’s time.
It seems that they are willing to run the risk of losing the South Korean on a free transfer next summer. There is no indication of whether Rangers are happy to pay that €10m figure.
Impressive loan
Min-su Kim only returned to Girona this summer after a loan spell at FC Andorra. He previously joined the Spanish club’s B team in 2022 but was promoted to the first team last year.
He’s made seven appearances for the first team to date, without a goal or an assist. But he impressed at Andorra last year, with six goals and four assists in 40 games.
Rangers appear to be on the hunt for a winger despite having Djeidi Gassama, Findlay Curtis, Daisuke Yokota and Ross McCausland as options at present.
Driouech alternative?
They had been close to a deal for PSV Eindhoven’s Couhaib Driouech. He spent two days undergoing medical tests at Ibrox and appeared to be on course for a move to Rangers this summer.
But that deal collapsed when rangers discovered issues in his medical. They then decided to cancel the deal outright, despite PSV’s insistence that the deal could still go through.
Now that deal appears to be dead, it seems they are looking at other options. Girona’s Min-su Ki could be the alternative. According to Solà, they have entered the picture for him with strength.
