Glasgow Rangers have made a late decision to try and change the terms of Nicolas Raskin’s proposed move to Beşiktaş.

Journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports that Rangers have changed their mind after initially accepting the offer for the Belgian midfielder.

He states that while Beşiktaş were preparing to finalise the 25-year-old’s move to the Turkish club Rangers – who has accepted the initial offer – now want to change the terms of the agreement. There is no mention of what changes those in charge at Ibrox wish to make.

Contacts are now ongoing between the two sides to work out a resolution. Reports in Türkiye earlier today stated that an agreement was in place between Rangers and Beşiktaş for Raskin.

That deal was a loan with a purchase clause included. The value of the purchase clause was not disclosed.

But the deal was believed to be advancing, with Raskin convinced on the move following a meeting with international teammate Leandro Trossard. He joined Beşiktaş from Arsenal earlier this summer.

Now, with the deal in the final stages, Rangers seemingly want to change the terms. Whether that causes any issues, remains to be seen. For now, the belief in Türkiye is that talks will continue to work out the deal eventually.

Beşiktaş are presumably not in a rush as their transfer window does not close until the 5th. The Scottish transfer window, though, closes on Thursday, meaning Rangers are running out of time to source a replacement should they want one.

With that in mind, it is strange they have decided to try and change the terms at the last minute and put Raskin’s deal in danger. Sabuncuoğlu has since reported that they’re rejecting improved terms from the Turkish side and Al-Ittihad.

He states the issue couldn’t be resolved and Raskin has trained with Rangers today. Whether that means an end to a potential exit, remains to be seen.
