AC Milan’s Youssouf Fofana has been linked with several Premier League clubs and Hull City could have a chance to sign the player.
The Frenchman had a frustrating 2025/26 campaign under Max Allegri. Ruben Amorim also wasn’t convinced by his profile and soon excluded Fofana from his project at the Rossoneri.

Milan were hoping for a formal move which never came. While Fofana has appeared close to joining Lyon, the Italian club now have other ideas. One leads to the Frenchman joining Hull City.
England move desired
Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo reports details about the ex-Monaco player’s exit from Milan. The journalist reveals that talks between the Diavolo and Lyon were progressing quickly on the basis of an initial loan with an option to buy. The two clubs had also prepared the documents ahead of the transfer.
At the very end, Lyon asked Milan to cover 50% of the player’s wages during the loan. The Rossoneri ownership rejected the idea and the deal has now fallen through.
Hull City are now in the race, competing with Besiktas and Galatasaray. While intermediaries are ironing out a move to Turkey, Milan would prefer a sale to Sergej Jakirovic’s side.
They are looking forward to the Tigers making a permanent offer for Fofana. There is little certainty the Turkish clubs can offer that. Hull City’s financial strength can hand them the lead, if they push for a move.
Our take: MKM move could be important
As things stand, Fofana is seeking to regain prominence and play regularly. Before things started going wrong, he was playing often for the French national team too.
A move to Hull City will allow him to play regularly. He could also be the centre of the project, which is exactly what he wants.
It may not hand the 27-year-old European football but he can use it as a springboard for a bigger move elsewhere. A deal won’t cost Hull City much either, as Milan are desperate for a sale.
