Bayern Munich aren’t pursuing Brighton & Hove Albion‘s Luka Vušković amid reports of them following him after his good start with the Premier League side.
The 19-year-old agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur in September 2023 and arrived in the UK last summer. Last summer, Spurs sent him on loan to Hamburg SV where he excelled.
His performances weren’t enough to make it to Roberto De Zerbi’s core plans this season. Therefore, the centre-back left them permanently for Brighton in the summer window.
The Seagulls have the best defensive record in the Premier League, along with Arsenal. The two teams have conceded five goals after seven matches, and Vušković has been a key figure in Brighton’s defence.
Brighton start leads to transfer links
In August, Fabian Hürzeler explained the 19-year-old fits into his side’s requirements and their identity as well.
Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly invested €54m to secure the Croatia international’s services. Last month, he shared his delight over the Seagulls’ decision to bet on him.
He said: “I’m happy Brighton wanted me, that they saw me as part of their project and that they were then prepared to pay a very large amount of money for me. That shows me the great confidence the club has in me, and I want to repay them in the best possible way.”
Luka Vušković’s impressive performances for The Amex club have led to reports linking him to other clubs, including Bayern Munich.
No longer on Bayern Munich’s agenda
Sky Deutschland now states reports linking the young defender to Vincent Kompany’s side are ‘unfounded’.
His performances for Hamburg resulted in reports of Bayern Munich’s interest, but they didn’t make advances in the summer. The Bundesliga winners could have potentially signed him in the last window.
Sky points it out and adds that it’s ‘likely too late now’, meaning a future move remains highly unlikely. This probably has to do with the high price needed to take him away from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Croatian’s contract is until 2031, with an option for another year. This puts Brighton in a comfortable position for a potential transfer negotiation in 2027.
